Background
A Private Investigator who was first met in a bar near Derk's Field. He was mum on who hired him to do the investigating. He seems like a dedicated and thorough detective, though what motivates him is unknown.
He was helpful in the investigation of Joan Kozbi. He led Detective Jamie Kane, Reverend Franklin III, and Wittikka to the spot in the Stream where Joan first entered. He provided them intel and advice on their return. He ultimately was not there for the encounter with Joan and survived to exchange words with Detective Kane.
The people in Ball Park have a poor opinion of him, for some reason.
Personality
Stadtfeld is composite drinker and smoker, with a cynical outlook on life that contradicts the lengths he'll go to preserve it. He prefers to solve things amicably, and is not beneath appearing weak if it avoids a confrontation.
When giving advice to Wittikka, the Reverend, and Detective Kane, he seemed to be genuinely concerned about their well-being when entering the Stream.
Appearance
Stadtfeld is in his mid-40s but stress has made him older. He has a poorly shaved beard, dark hair that looks as if it's been dyed, and brown eyes. He has a look of permanent consternation with a face not used to smiling. He wears a single breasted trench coat that's seen better days.
Quotes
You can't call yourself peaceful unless you're capable of violence. If you aren't, you're not peaceful; you're harmless.
