All of the below is theory and conjecture crafted by players.

The Ruby Lord

The Ruby Lord was a striking ruby pink Crimson Retainer. She loved deeply and her loyalty defined her. She did her duty without fail and was deeply cherished by the Red Court.

Background

Crimson Retainers were made as the giants tools, craving love and loyalty. And their leader was the prime example. And it was in love that The Ruby Lord found the first spark of rebellion, siding with Unforgotten Yonmarl and four friends to retake freedom from giants.

And so The Ruby Lord and Red Court joined the rebellion, hated as they were for their part in subjugating kin. The Crimson Retainers of the Red Court were the most organized, well trained, and unquestioningly loyal of the forces that joined together.

In the time of the Realms, the Red Court became peacekeepers and justiciars, and the Crystal Vigil served as place of trial. Here The Ruby Lord presided as judge. For the most severe cases, souls were sealed in the Crystal Vigil, awaiting the Ruby Lord to give them back when the sentence was done.

When the Saints of Jyggalath were damned from memory, The Ruby Lord refused to comply with the order to forget. And so The Ruby Lord was executed in her own courtroom, and her soul fused to the Crystal Vigil.

Discovery

The Red Court's presence was felt from nearly the beginning of our journey, but we first heard of The Ruby Lord by name in Kret, when we learned she had been executed, causing the Mother of Kret to isolate Kret.

Info

The Pluralists orchestrated the Ruby Lord's death, and one loyal retainer and a friend of Empedocles sought him out.

After learning Pluralist was responsible for the death of The Ruby Lord, and Empedocles especially, we had a burning question: why?

The Red Court and The Ruby Lord were intensely loyal to the Overking, and held nothing but love for him. No order was questioned. The Ruby Lord loved the Realms dearly. More dearly than anything. She sought to bring them together and ensure all were heard.

In the Red Court, we discovered that The Ruby Lord refused to forget the Wicked Saints of Jyggalath, as learned from the Conservator at the Hall of Memory, where they recorded all kin who passed through the Realms.

While we passed through the marshes of the Red Court, Salvius had strange dreams of being another kin, speaking to a massive Yoked. We believe this kin was the Ruby Lord.

When we arrived the Crystal Vigil, we only made it to the Crystal Throne through Sko's petition for audience with a strange token.

Question

Does this mean we committed a crime?

We entered the Crystal Vigil...spiritually.

Info

The battle with The Ruby Lord and the Red Court was unlike anything we've done so far. All the souls trapped in the Crystal Vigil had stripped her soul of everything, leaving her only a frame of metal wire. She still persisted in her duty, defending the Crystal Vigil from anyone who would try to pass it. But greater than this instinct to duty, was the instinct to love. And we showed her love. She unwound.

Defeating The Ruby Lord, we were left with a tattoo affixed to her body, and her heart in our hands. As the Crystal Vigil collapsed in front of us, we watched every star go out in the sky, starting with hers. It was Yonmarl who executed her. Personally. The Ruby Lord submitted willingly.

Later we met Middlemost/Characters/Nashandre at the Ruby Lord's villa. Her body had been stored there, and her soul had been thrown into the Brine.

Question

Why would the Ruby Lord throw Middlemost/Characters/Nashandre's soul to the Brine?

Middlemost/Characters/Nashandre entrusted the Ruby Lord's Revolvers to us for safekeeping. In her villa we found many things, including a room full of every gift she had ever received. In another, a line up of potions, including one for the Grand Ambassador and one for Empedocles.

Question

The Grand Ambassador's name has yet to come up in relation to the Ruby Lord besides this...is there something being hidden from us?
