All of the below is theory and conjecture crafted by players.
Holland the Itinerant
Holland was a one-armed Fractured adventurer. He was brave, kind, and determined.
Background
Hailing from Bordayne, Holland was an adventurer who wished to cleanse some illness from his homeland, but ultimately failed. On his failed mission, he found love, friendship, and perspective, but nothing else.
Holland the Itinerant was the only kin to ever get into Chronicle, the city damned from memory. From there he even managed to escape.
Holland would travel every realm in his time. He was one of the few kin to ever do so, even finding such strange places as Mirror Cleft.
At some point, he found himself at Altar Hall on the search for his lost lover, but perished in Altar Hall.
Discovery
Holland's body was the last thing we found in Altar Hall, after defeating the monster that guarded those halls, and after making our pact. The monster had arranged his body in a reverential manner.
His body was found in Spirit, at Altar Hall. It was being guarded by the Groundskeeper, who we believe to have been Lebel, Holland's lover, based on the description of the lanterns held by the monster and Lebel's gun.
We next found reference to him in Pluralist, where a weathered and dead old Pluralist described as a humorless codger was found dead on top of the Ephemeral Plant in which Ephemeral Essence was processed from Ambrosia and the crystals of the Red Court to fuel the bodies of Pluralist scholars who'd transformed themselves into golems.
Did Holland arrive in Pluralist before or after their transformation into Golems?
On Lebel's rifle in the marshes of the Red Court, we found a medallion of an itinerant knight. This same discovery leads us to believe that Lebel was the Groundskeeper.
After pushing our way through the rest of the Red Court, we discovered that Holland had used the Ethereal Quill to reach Chronicle. He used this to pluck his "future lover" from the city damned from memory.
Was Lebel from Chronicle?
We finally discovered his prior weapon in Chronicle's plague district. Holland had found a way into the city and escaped as well. He seems to have been at every realm, the only places we lack proof of his presence is the Brine, and perhaps Home?
