Mark of the Oslow, First Smithward. There is still power in this etching, even in its corruption. This is the only rune to still bleed.
The Smithwards were created by Chronicle to make great crafts and strengthen the city until they were ready to escape and destroy the giants. They fundamentally altered their body such that the tools of giants could not change them. And they alone promised themselves to die upon the destruction of giants, finally ridding the world of their foul touch.
Impurity was the first intent of giant’s given symbol, and given to the purest of Chronicle’s denizens; the one who could channel the disgust of alien beings into purpose. He kept the Ambrosia flowing which became the lifeblood of Chronicle, and he spearheaded the research of their greatest triumph. The last son of House Crow was, in truth, the first son of the new Chronicle.
He would’ve died a thousand deaths if it meant Chronicle’s survival. His last thoughts were of its legacy.
